Since 1994, CJHRC has served as Somerset County's Fair Housing Office to monitor housing practices and counsel victims of discrimination. CJHRC's policies and activities promote the awareness of fair housing requirements. CJHRC also provides consultation to developers and municipalities to ensure that rental and for-sale units are marketed in accordance with the affirmative marketing rules of the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing (COAH).
CJHRC ensures that all housing programs and services provided by the county, municipalities and CJHRC itself are administered in a way that promotes fair housing on the basis of race, national origin, religion, gender, disability and familial status. This role is in keeping with CJHRC's fundamental mission to increase access to affordable housing for all persons.
